CASTELLO TRICERCHI

Rosso di Montalcino 2016 - Vinous 89 pts
Castello Tricerchi's 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is soft, fruity and inviting. Sweet red cherry, mint, spice and kirsch are all pushed forward. The Rosso is aged in cask, but the casks are newer, and so there is a bit of oak influence that adds raciness as well as texture.

Brunello di Montalcino 2015 - James Suckling 93 pts
Lots of exuberant ripe berries and a hint of blackberry leaf and hay. Fruit-forward and delicious with expansive tannins and lots of ripeness. Full-bodied and round, but there’s some tannin bite on the finish. Drink in 2022.

Brunello di Montalcino A.D. 1441 2015 - James Suckling 95 pts
Superb ripeness, but also poise here with dried earth, red-plum compote, sticky toffee pudding and bark. Full-bodied with enveloping, grainy tannins and loads of dried-spice undertones. Long and powerful on the finish. Drink in 2025.

GIANNI BRUNELLI

Brunello di Montalcino 2015 - James Suckling 95 pts
Beautiful intensity, but also focus to the nose of this Brunello. Wild strawberries, tar and cherry kernel vie to be heard above a chorus of forest floor and tobacco. The palate has wonderful compression, herding vibrant cherries and chewy tannins into shape; there’s balance, focus and depth, all in one package. Drink in 2023.

Rosso di Montalcino 2015 - Vinous 89 pts
The 2015 Rosso di Montalcino is in a pretty spot right now where it has acquired a good bit of aromatic and flavor complexity, with plenty of cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and dried herb notes. I would prefer to drink it over the next handful of years, even though it has plenty of depth.

Rosso di Montalcino 2016 - Vinous 91 pts
The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is a wine of real depth and nuance. Dried herbs, crushed flowers, sweet red cherry, mint, tobacco and licorice are some of the many notes that grace Brunelli's 2016 Rosso di Montalcino. Layered and wonderfully expressive, the 2016 has a lot to offer.

Rosso di Montalcino 2017 - Vinous 91 pts
Brunelli's 2017 Rosso di Montalcino is glorious. Silky, racy and inviting, the 2017 is a total joy to taste. Sweet red cherry, spice, cedar, leather and tobacco all grace this impeccably balanced, classy Rosso from Gianni Brunelli. All the elements fall into place in a delicious, open-knit Rosso that will delight readers with its sheer appeal. The 2017 is a real standout.

UCCELLIERA

Rosso di Montalcino 2016 - Vinous 91 pts
Uccelliera's 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is bold, powerful and explosive, with plenty of energy to play off the richness of the year and proprietor Andrea Cortonesi's style. Rose petal, lavender, sage and pine bring out the more Mediterranean side of Sangiovese in the southern reaches of Montalcino. This is such a pretty and expressive wine.

Brunello di Montalcino 2015 - James Suckling 95 pts
Plenty of earth, tar, spices, dried cherries and red plums here. The tannins have a firm but generous quality to them, providing an abundance of structure to the fullbodied palate. I love the juxtaposition between ripe fruit and tightly webbed texture. Drink in 2023.

VOLIERO

Rosso di Montalcino 2015 - Vinous 89 pts
The 2015 Rosso di Montalcino offers lovely richness from the warm season to play off the more edgy signatures that are so common in this Rosso from high altitude vineyards in the northern part of the appellation. Not surprisingly, the 2015 is a bit forward. I would prefer to drink it within the next few years.

Rosso di Montalcino 2016 - Vinous 90 pts
The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino from Voliero is bright, lifted and super-expressive. Blood orange, mint, star anise and wild cherry give the 2016 striking aromatic nuance. Medium in body and silky, with tons of Sangiovese character, the 2016 shows just how compelling these wines are. The 2016 Rosso is not an obvious wine, but it is incredibly delicious. Readers who enjoy slightly nervous, mineral-driven reds will adore the 2016.

Brunello di Montalcino 2015 - James Suckling 95 pts
A dusty Brunello with dried berries, walnuts, caramelized orange, felt-tip pen and dried tobacco. Full-bodied and warming on the palate, which reveals a sweet-and-sour character, created by the interplay of solid
acidity and dried fruit. Drink in 2023.
